When Are Face Masks Mandatory Again? Winter 2021 Update

As Winter 2021 is just around the corner, the weather has taken a turn with spine chilling temperatures hitting the UK's shores.

With this change in climate, the ever-present COVID-19 virus is beginning to enter the picture once again.

The latest mutation of the coronavirus, named the Omicron variant has thrown up some challenges for the coming months.

Here's what you need to know...

Are Face Masks Mandatory Again?

As of Tuesday 30th November 2021 in the UK, wearing face masks will be mandatory in shops and public transport.

The only environments which will be exempt from these changes are hospitality settings.

What Happens If I'm Already Double Vaccinated?

All individuals who show symptoms of the Omicron variant (typical COVID-19 illnesses) must self-isolate, whether they have been double jabbed or not.

The UK's health secretary is currently working to reduce the gap between people's second dose of the vaccine and their booster jab.

What About Travelling Abroad?

For those entering the UK, these individuals will be required to take a PCR test by the end of the second day after arrival.

If the result is positive, they must self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
